Switchback: A Tiny Hiking and Park Simulator (“Switchback”) is operated by Swank Labs LLC (“Swank Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Statement explains how information is handled when you play Switchback on iOS or Android and when you contact us about it (the “Game”).

Switchback is designed to work without a Switchback account. Your saved games, custom parks, settings, and other gameplay progress are stored locally on your device. Certain optional features, including advertising, platform achievements and leaderboards, purchases, support, and notifications, involve Apple, Google, or other service providers as described below.

This Statement covers the Switchback game. Our websites, including swanklabsgames.com and the Switchback pages, are covered separately by the Swank Labs Games Websites Privacy Statement.

Information handled when you play Switchback

Local gameplay data

Switchback stores information such as saved games, custom parks or maps, unlocked content, settings, and gameplay progress locally on your device. Swank Labs does not receive or store this local gameplay data on its servers.

You can remove local gameplay data using any reset controls provided in the game or by deleting the game from your device. Deleting Switchback will generally remove its local data and cause you to lose your progress. Copies may remain in device backups controlled by you or your platform provider.

No Switchback account

You do not need to create a Switchback account or provide Swank Labs with your name, email address, or password to play. Your platform account, such as your Apple Account or Google Account, is managed by the relevant platform provider and is not a Switchback account.

Advertising through Google AdMob

On supported mobile versions, players who have not purchased the full game may choose to watch a rewarded advertisement to access certain gameplay. Switchback uses Google AdMob and the Google Mobile Ads SDK to provide these advertisements. Paid versions and players whose entitlement removes advertising may not be shown ads.

Google and its advertising partners may automatically process information in connection with an ad request, including:

  • IP address, which may be used to estimate a device’s general location;
  • device and app identifiers, including the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) when permitted;
  • device model, operating system, language, app version, and similar technical information;
  • advertisements shown and interactions with those advertisements;
  • app interactions associated with requesting or viewing an advertisement;
  • performance information, such as app launch time, hang rate, and energy use; and
  • advertising-related crash logs, diagnostics, fraud-prevention signals, and security information.

This information may be used to select, deliver, personalize, limit the repetition of, and measure advertisements; understand advertising performance; attribute conversions; detect invalid traffic and fraud; maintain security; and improve advertising services.

Google may combine information from Switchback with information from other apps, websites, or services to provide personalized advertising where you have given the required permission or consent. Google and participating advertising technology providers may process this information under their own privacy policies.

You can learn more through the Google Privacy Policy and Google’s explanation of how it uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Advertising consent and App Tracking Transparency

Switchback uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and record advertising privacy choices where required or appropriate.

On iOS, Switchback may also request permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. If you allow tracking, Google may access the IDFA and use data from Switchback together with data from other companies’ apps and websites for personalized advertising and advertising measurement. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, the Google Mobile Ads SDK will not receive the IDFA from Switchback. You may still watch a rewarded ad and play the ad-supported content, but the advertisement may be less personalized.

Where available, you can review or change advertising consent choices through Privacy Choices in Switchback’s settings. On iOS, you can separately manage ATT permission in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. You can also manage advertising personalization associated with your Google Account through My Ad Center.

Your choices may result in personalized, non-personalized, basic, or limited advertisements depending on your location, permissions, consent selections, device settings, and applicable law.

Achievements and leaderboards

The iOS version of Switchback uses Apple Game Center, and the Android version uses Google Play Games Services, to provide achievements and leaderboards.

If you are signed in to Game Center, Apple may process your Game Center player identifier, nickname, avatar, scores, achievements, and related game activity. If you are signed in to Play Games, Google may process your Play Games player identifier, gamer tag or profile name, avatar, scores, achievements, and related game activity. In either case, your profile name, avatar, scores, or achievements may be visible to other players of that service according to your Apple or Google settings and the feature you use.

Switchback uses this information only to provide achievement and leaderboard functionality. Swank Labs does not use these services to create a separate Switchback account or maintain its own player-profile database. Game Center information is handled by Apple under Apple’s Game Center & Privacy notice, and Play Games information is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.

You can sign out of, or decline to sign in to, either service and still play Switchback.

Purchases and downloadable content

Purchases of the full game or downloadable content are processed by the platform through which you obtain Switchback, the Apple App Store or Google Play. Swank Labs does not receive your full payment-card or banking information.

Switchback may receive or check limited transaction information, such as a product identifier, transaction identifier, purchase date, storefront, and entitlement or refund status, to complete a purchase, unlock content, restore purchases, and prevent fraud. At launch, purchase entitlements are generally checked on the device rather than stored in a Swank Labs account database.

Your platform provider handles payment information and purchase records under its own privacy policy.

Crash reports and diagnostics

Switchback does not use an independent third-party analytics or crash-reporting service in the game at launch. Depending on your device and privacy settings, Apple or Google may give Swank Labs crash reports, diagnostics, or aggregated app-performance information. These reports may include technical details such as the device model, operating-system version, Switchback version, crash time, and technical events leading to a crash.

We use this information to diagnose problems, improve stability and performance, and maintain the security of the Game. The platform provider controls its collection and disclosure of this information through its own settings and privacy policy.

Notifications

Switchback may ask for permission to send optional local notifications, such as reminders to return to your park. Local notifications are scheduled and processed on your device. Swank Labs does not receive a device token or maintain a notification profile for local notifications.

You can change notification permissions at any time in your device settings. Switchback does not currently use a Swank Labs server to send remote push notifications.

Support and feedback

Switchback may include a link that opens your email application so you can contact support. If you choose to send a message, we receive the email address used to send it, your message, any attachments you include, and any technical information you choose to provide.

We use support communications to answer you, troubleshoot problems, improve Switchback and other Swank Labs products, maintain appropriate business records, enforce our terms, and resolve disputes. We may retain useful feedback in aggregated or de-identified form after it is no longer associated with your contact information.

Please do not include sensitive personal information in support messages unless it is necessary for us to help you.

Our websites

Visits to swanklabsgames.com, including the Switchback pages and this one, are not covered by this Statement. How information is handled on our websites, including website analytics and your choices about it, is described in the Swank Labs Games Websites Privacy Statement.

Links from the Game to third-party sites and stores are governed by the privacy policies of those services.

How we use information

We use information described in this Statement to:

  • operate and provide Switchback and its features;
  • deliver rewarded advertising and honor advertising choices;
  • provide personalized advertising when permitted;
  • verify purchases, restore entitlements, and unlock content;
  • provide achievements and leaderboards through platform services;
  • respond to support requests and use feedback to improve our products;
  • diagnose crashes and improve performance;
  • protect the Game, players, Swank Labs, and our providers from fraud, abuse, and security threats;
  • comply with law and enforce our agreements; and
  • create aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify an individual.

How information is shared

We disclose information only as described in this Statement, including to:

  • Google and advertising technology providers: To deliver, personalize, measure, secure, and improve advertising through AdMob.
  • Platform and storefront providers: Apple and Google, for distribution, purchases, achievements, leaderboards, platform diagnostics, and related services.
  • Communications providers: Such as our email provider, for support communications.
  • Professional advisers and business service providers: When reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, security, or operational support and subject to appropriate duties of confidentiality.
  • Authorities or other parties for legal and safety purposes: When reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or enforceable governmental requests; protect rights, property, or safety; investigate fraud or abuse; or enforce our agreements.
  • A successor or transaction participant: In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of Swank Labs, subject to applicable law.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing Google to use identifiers and activity for personalized advertising may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or “cross-context behavioral advertising” under some privacy laws. You can opt out of this processing using Switchback’s Privacy Choices control, Apple’s ATT setting, or applicable device and Google advertising controls.

Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

  • Consent: For personalized advertising, tracking, and other processing where consent is required. You may withdraw consent going forward through the controls described in this Statement.
  • Performance of a contract: To provide the game, complete purchases, restore entitlements, and deliver features you request.
  • Legitimate interests: To secure and improve the Game, respond to support, maintain appropriate records, prevent fraud, understand technical performance, and operate our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligations: To comply with applicable law, tax and accounting obligations, legal process, and enforceable requests.

Data retention

  • Local gameplay data: Remains on your device until you reset it, delete it, or delete Switchback, subject to any device backups you control.
  • Advertising data: Is retained by Google and participating advertising providers according to their policies, your choices, and applicable law. Swank Labs does not maintain its own database of AdMob advertising profiles.
  • Platform data: Purchase, achievement, leaderboard, and platform-diagnostic information is retained by Apple or Google according to its policies. Swank Labs retains only what is reasonably necessary if platform information is provided to us for support, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
  • Support communications: Are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate business records, improve our products, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information: May be retained for longer because it does not reasonably identify you.

We may preserve information for longer when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, disputes, or enforcement of our agreements.

Children

Switchback is a general-audience game and is not directed specifically to children under 13. It is not offered in Apple’s Kids Category. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 or knowingly use information from a child under 13 for personalized advertising.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in a manner that requires parental consent and did not receive that consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete or otherwise address the information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information to Swank Labs may contact support@swanklabsgames.com.

Platform providers and Google may apply additional child or teen protections based on account, device, region, or other signals available to them.

International data transfers

Swank Labs operates from the United States. Apple, Google, and other providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they or their service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from the laws where you live. Where required, we and our providers use recognized safeguards for international transfers.

Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; and appeal a decision regarding a privacy request.

Because Switchback does not require an account and Swank Labs does not maintain a central gameplay database, we may hold little or no information that can be connected to you. We may need information from you to locate relevant support correspondence or verify a request, and we will not collect more information than reasonably necessary for verification.

You can exercise choices as follows:

  • Delete local gameplay data through in-game reset controls, where available, or by deleting Switchback.
  • Review advertising consent through Privacy Choices in Switchback’s settings, where available.
  • Manage iOS tracking through Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • Manage notification permission in your device settings.
  • Manage platform information, purchases, Game Center or Play Games settings, and platform analytics through the applicable Apple or Google controls.
  • Submit a privacy request or appeal to support@swanklabsgames.com.

If applicable, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information under our control. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping most gameplay data on your device reduces the amount of personal information Swank Labs receives, but you are responsible for securing your device and platform accounts.

Changes to this Statement

We may update this Privacy Statement as Switchback evolves or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the game, on our website, or through the platform. If we later add material features such as Swank Labs accounts, cloud saves, in-game analytics, additional platforms, or remote push notifications, we will update this Statement before or when those features become available.
