Switchback 1.0.10 is out on the App Store and Google Play. It is a free update for everyone, and the same on iPhone, iPad and Android. Your parks, stars and purchases carry over as they are.

Great blue herons

Herons have moved into your marshes. They stalk the shallows, stand very still, and then they have a fish. In the parks with a rookery they nest together on tall dead snags, raise their chicks on the nest, and one day the young take their first flight and go off to fish the marsh on their own.

They keep their own hours, too. At dusk a nesting heron flies home and spends the night on the nest. The young sleep standing up in the shallows and get back to fishing at dawn.

Hidden treasure

Some parks are hiding a treasure chest. Nothing on the map tells you where. Find it, build a trail out to it, and it opens. What is inside goes on your Trailboard.

There are chests in Lupine Meadow, Loon Lake, Lake Loop and Ladrones Wash, so every free park has one. I am not going to tell you where they are.

A Trailboard for every park

Every park now has a Trailboard: a scrapbook of that park, with the stickers and keepsakes you find there pinned to it. Open it from Manage ▸ Park, arrange it how you like, and save it to your photos when it looks right. In the ride-along you can walk up to the notice board by the trailhead and open it there.

Out on the water

Build a rental hut on the shore and your visitors can take out rowboats and canoes. On a river, put in a tubing launch and send them floating downstream. Canoe rental is part of the Full Game.

A new Lake Loop

Lake Loop has been rebuilt from the ground up. There is a sandy beach at the old summer camp, a boardwalk across the reeds of Cattail Marsh, and a heron rookery on the knoll. The herons nest on the east side, so that ground is roped off. Go round, and come up the gentle way.

And the rest

  • Mallards paddle your lakes, and hummingbirds visit your flowers. Hang a feeder to bring them in, and plant some of the new flowers while you are at it.
  • A supply shed gives your volunteers somewhere closer to pick up their building kits.
  • Clearer lakes, waves when the wind picks up, rivers that really flow, and a haze on the far hills on a summer day.
  • You can zoom in closer to your visitors, and you choose your bridge as you draw it across the water.
  • On a phone held sideways, the park complete card keeps all its buttons in view.
  • Lots of little fixes. Trees stand straight on hillsides, the camera glides more smoothly, and bugs were lovingly squashed.

Tell me what you found in the chests at support@swanklabsgames.com, or post your Trailboard in the Discord. No spoilers for the others, please.

Go build a nice place. Leave the herons some room.
